Emmeria, officially and formally known as The Republic of Emmeria, is a medium sized nation occupying central and east Anea. It shares land borders with Estovakia to the east, Nordennavic to the Northweast. It shares an ocean border with Yuktobania to the south across the Fuscum Sea. The Capital city of Gracemeria is located on a multiple river delta on the east side of the nation, with a bay opening into the Fuscum Sea.
A economical powerhouse, Emmeria is a developed nation, with it's leading exports being Wine, and Cheeses and a population nearing 80,000,000 strong. It's standard denomination of currency is the Auris, named after the Golden King. Emmeria has a significant hand in international Motorsports, as well as the film and music industries. And while it's military isn't as large as Osea's or Yuktobania's it's still nothing to laugh at.
History[]
Foundation (c.1500s)[]
The Republic of Emmeria was preceded by the formation of several kingdoms in the medieval era. In the 15th century, the region that would become Gracemeria was a fertile soil, and became the focus of infighting among vassals seeking control of the land. All sparked due to one King Aurelius I almost thirty years prior.l The conflict caused the collapse of order, and led to a series of foreign invasions and strife across the country.
King Aurelius II, a man who took the name of his predecessor out of nothing but tradition, became the founder of modern Emmeria, having risen to power seemingly from nowhere in the middle of the turmoil, vying to bring an end to the invasions.
The process was not a bloodless one, Yuktobanian invaders from the southern seas had gained a foothold and their colonists to the east had started progressing further and further into the Emmerian domain, North Point settlers had swarmed Khesed some decades prior, and Nordenn Vikings routinely raided the coasts.
The resulting 'cleansing took nearly seven years, but the Yuktobanians were largely repelled, and with the help of the rather agitated North Point settlers, the Nordenn situation was contained to a sustainable level of raids. It was then that the man now known as the Golden King, instituted a Republic government, and stepped down, fading into obscurity.
The aftermath of the campaign not only sparked a multicultural society on Khesed and Emmeria, but also of the legend of the Razgriz. It was speculated that the Golden King as he was now known, had been a creature from the Razgriz straights, first as a demon who beset tragedy upon the land, died. And reincarnated into a benevolent angel to fix his past mistakes. Said legend was later disproven, but it's popularity among children and obscure theological sects keep it alive in various forms to the modern day.
Modern Age (1950-Present)[]
The Republic of Emmeria evolved over the centuries to become one of the leading nations of Anea. In 1999, it became one of the countries that would be affected by the planetfall of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid. Preparations for the event were carried out across the nation, with aircraft mobilizing to transport refugees and underground shelters being built in Gracemeria. On July 3, 1999, the asteroid entered the Earth's atmosphere and shattered into thousands of fragments that hit the northern hemisphere.
The impacts almost saw the collapse of Emmeria's trade routes and economy, along with the severe damage of the regions and cities close to the Estovakian border.
Emmeria began the "Emmerian-Estovakian Reconstruction Effort" to try and rebuild Estovakia’s destroyed economy and shattered cities. In 2004, the "Republic of Anea Initiative" was founded. This movement called for the merging of the Republic of Emmeria, Federal Republic of Estovakia and Kingdom of Nordennavic into one continental nation. The Preparatory Agency for the Republic of Anea is founded. Though is unfortunately cut short.
Estovakian Civil War (2007-2014)[]
Contrary to popular belief. Emmeria was involved -though indirectly- with the fighting of the Estovakian Civil War. Emmeria at first sent aid to the Lyes United Front to try and help ease the conflict. Afterwards however Emmerian assistance to Estovakia is officially cut off after it became clear that Lyes United Front was misusing this aid as part of their war effort. As the civil war came to a close in 2013 with the Eastern Faction as the victor, a military dictatorship called “the Generals” emerged. As Estovakia became increasingly militaristic and isolated from Emmeria, the "Republic of Anea Initiative" was closed indefinitely.
Throughout this time Emmeria lived in peace and had recovered from any effects Ulysses had. The rebuilding of Estovakia did not proceed as its new government expected however due to political and social upheavals throughout the country. Few citizens also felt a deep resentment against Emmeria for not doing enough to help them during and after the war, despite the actual truth. And so, riding on a wave of nationalism, "The Generals" privately schemed to invade Emmeria in hopes of a sustainable economy and more political power.
Anean Continental War (2015)[]
Description[]
The Republic of Emmeria is the central nation on the Anean continent. The other two nations flank both sides of Emmeria with these being the Federal Republic of Estovakia to the east, and the Kingdom of Nordennavic to the northwest. Emmeria also happens to share a sea border to the south with The Union of Yuktobanian Republics.
The country seems to have coastal, rolling plains near the Fuscum Sea and the North Sea. As we travel inland, the geography changes to a more mountainous landscape. In this region there are many small to large river valleys. Some of these valleys also point to some glaciations that happened in the Anean geological past. Also, there are at least two deserts, the Moloch and Jamel Deserts. Another geological formation is Khesed Island. It is the largest island within Emmerian territory. The island might have been created by a series of volcanic eruptions. The country also seems to have an abundance of ferile land, leading to a very powerful agricultural industry.
Politics[]
The Republic of Emmeria shares various similarities with Italy, due to the former's geography and the widespread use of Italian names in locations.
Much more likely the Republic of Italy, given the nation's geography and the heavy use of Italian place names as well as weaponry used by the Italian armed forces. Also note the use of Italian language in an official AC6 New Year wallpaper and the reference to "gelato" by Emmerian troops in the level where Emmerian troops launch an amphibious landing on Khesed. Also, "Emilia" was a province in northern Italy.
